I spent last night at my lady co-worker's house (dad was out of town and I still don't drive).  I brought her a case of fresh strawberries for she and her husband for letting me stay.  She let me try a taste of her homemade carmel. WOW. The real thing! Then she gave me a white chocolate-coated chocolate treat. She doesn't like chocolate much.  She told me yesterday that she bought (bid for) 4 pair of shoes on Ebay, and while I was at her house, she and I looked online for about 1 hour so I could shoe-shop, and I ended up buying 5 pair of beautiful heels for about $20 each!  I am psyched. These are shoes you simply cannot find in Steamboat. I'll be buying insoles, but it's worth it.

At work, the manager is very kind (though sleep-deprived), the staff is pleasant (most are friends of eachother), the other hostess who works with me is fun, natural, classy, my height, feels like close friend/family member. A long lost Brazilian cousin! ;) She is great-- teaching me every angle of hostessing that I need to know in order to help run the restaurant smoothly, which entails a happy (not over-worked) kitchen and waitstaff.  Life is fun. I am VERY busy, except Sundays.

I am in my office now on a late Saturday night after work, listening to Jazz After Hours and typing. Signing off...

It's been a crammed week.  Last Monday we got word that my dad's mother of 91 years passed away in her unconscious sleep.  Her daughter had been taking care of her for a long time and God was pleased to bring her home.  My dad's missing her, but hanging in there. He got a chance to visit in late July, just a few weeks before she died, which was good.

Other news, on Thursday I went into the new bistro in town, looked around, met a few workers, and asked if they were hiring. Next thing I knew, I was signing papers and being trained as a hostess for the first time.  I've worked there all of last weekend from 5-10:30.  I love it. That is my evening job. It is elegant and located downtown 1 block from my daytime workplace.  God is so good!  My family was surprised when they found out. :)

I think I went into overdrive today trying my utmost to minister to a co-worker.  She noticed my passion for her spiritual welfare, and I think I was in the right to share, but I think an apology is warranted. You only need so much overkill.

Late News

Last night dad and I went shopping for a few things, and today on a 10 minute break I enjoyed a cold Pacific northwestern treat. The organic blackberry popsicle was an unpopular refreshment to our high elevation heat. No rhyme intended.

Work is going well.  The boss and lady-coworkers are agreeable and fun. When I'm not receptionizing, I have a 2-inch thick book of just one facet of insurance to teach myself. The mood is full of incentive, but not stressful. I have established a place to keep my how-to's in one place. That helps a lot!

I miss having the opportunity to play piano and sing regularly.  It's hard to sing late at night in the shower when the neighbours are trying to sleep.  It's hard to play piano in the frontroom when my dad's watching TV. I can't practice my singing at work or on the streets after work before I go home.  I miss my musical outlets.  Well, I do have time to write now, and funny thoughts come to mind when I least anticipate.

Dad is good to work-out in the afternoons.  I have not been making this a priority, but I should.  I do go for walks after work, and go jogging up my country road toward the skunk and deer grounds with my cats, but I shoudld get back into my pilates.

Small potato news, but there it is.
